My Day In Photos

Hey guys! Mike here. As lead sewer at GTS my days are jam packed with new creations, unexpected challenges, and continuous fine tuning.  I wanted to give you an inside look with minute by minute images capturing what it takes to have our brand run smooth day to day.

GTS Clothing

7:15am | I am an early riser but usually arrive to the factory between 7am and 7:30am.  I am the first to arrive.  This allows me to survey our production floor for potential problems that we may run into today.

GTS Clothing

7:45am | Every single day I create our production plan for the day.  Our team of cutters and sewers hit the ground running at 8am.  I take all of the orders that were placed the day before and plug them into our production system.  The database system is something that we created ourselves from scratch.

8:10am | Our new Retro Static products are coming through production for the first time today.  As our lead fabric cutter begins, I have a quick chat with him about important details regarding the fabric.

GTS Clothing

9:00am | Sample yardage for potentially new fabric has arrived.  Getting right to making a sample.  Here I am layering the fabric to be cut.  Once cut and sewn our team will evaluate the feel, weight, and durability of the fabric.

9:30am | Ryder arrives.  He's our Chief of Morale.

10:30am | For fall we are looking to bring floral embroidery into our line.  I set aside some time to talk with our head designer Kelly to brainstorm product ideas.

GTS Clothing

11:45am | I sit down for a meeting with Colleen who handles our Wholesale aspect of our business.  We chat about fall releases and how we can continually improve and help bring value to our retailers.

GTS Clothing

12:30pm | There is never a day that something unexpected doesn't happen.  There are thousands of little details that have to align to successfully make clothing each day.  Here one of our sewers machines breaks down.  The longer it takes to fix the machine the more behind we get.  Not to worry, everyone on our team of sewers chips in to help.

 GTS Clothing

1:17pm | A meeting of the minds.  I sit down with Kelly to talk about a wide range of topics revolving around our business as a whole.  We discuss things such as fabric costs, fall releases, website promotion schedule, email marketing, and overall brand direction.

2:45pm | After chatting with Kelly, I want to bring a few of our concepts to life.  So I head out to the factory floor to work on some Technical Design.  A product is "designed" where the product visual and features are created.  Then I perform Technical Design where I figure out how all of the pieces of the product fit together.  Almost like figuring out a puzzle.

4:30pm | I sit down to reflect on my day, write this blog, and catch up on any emails that I might have missed throughout the day.

Tomorrow we are back at it and it's another day to continually learn and improve.

Awesome stuff! I’m going to get some for my daughter who is a sophomore in college. Love the ripped selection that mirrors her “chic” jeans! Keep it coming
